Delta Star
Elements Theater
THE CLIENT
Delta Star is a leading North American manufacturer of power transformers, mobile substations, and grid infrastructure solutions that helps utilities and industries deliver reliable electricity to communities.
THE CHALLENGE
For the IEEE 2026 exhibition, Delta Star sought to move away from conventional, heavy physical product displays in favor of a high-impact, immersive experience. The primary objective was to create an immersive “wow moment” visual theater that set the brand apart from competitors while demonstrating the performance and adaptability of its mobile transformer across a wide range of environments and conditions, from desert landscapes to arctic tundra. This initiative aimed to attract a diverse audience, ranging from executive-level guests to engineers, and spark meaningful interactions with booth ambassadors through an awe-inspiring, less-technical narrative.
THE SOLUTION
As the lead experiential partner on the project, Exhibit Concepts engaged 900lbs to collaborate on the development of the Delta Star Elements Theater experience. In close collaboration, the teams created an immersive digital showcase that highlighted the Model E5140 product operating across a range of extreme environmental conditions and demanding terrains.
The theater experience incorporated a blend of custom engineering, cinematic content, and real-time sensory control, including:
- A large LED display integrated into a custom-fabricated theater, seamlessly synchronized with dynamic lighting, spatial audio, and olfactory effects.
- Cinematic visual content placing the Model E5140 Mobile Unit within four detailed 3D environments, each enhanced by visual effects (VFX): arid Desert heat, freezing Winter Tundra, intricate Cityscape, and turbulent Coastal storm effects.
- An iOS iPad application, empowering booth ambassadors to orchestrate the experience by triggering commands to Pro Player Plus hardware for real-time synchronization of sensory elements.
- A high-impact, looping idle sequence that maintained visual theater presence through sequential environment previews and lighting cues, serving as an automated call to action.
THE RESULTS
The Elements Theater successfully debuted at the IEEE PES T&D 2026 show at McCormick Place in Chicago. By pivoting from traditional physical displays to a multi-sensory, immersive experience, Delta Star exhibited a powerful brand differentiator. This "wow moment” visual theater successfully captivated attendees, drawing them into the booth to explore and learn more. The immersive theater acted as a primary driver for booth traffic, facilitating meaningful engagement between visitors and booth ambassadors. Furthermore, the scalable nature of the digital content ensures the experience can be adapted for future exhibitions and various platforms, maximizing the client’s long-term ROI.
